SUMMARY:Junior Open Fishing Tournament
DESCRIPTION:An Elephant Butte tradition since the late 1970s\, this Father’s Day Fishing Tournament is sponsored each year by the Elephant Butte Bass Anglers. \nWeigh-ins are at noon on Saturday & Sunday at Marina del Sur. \nEvery participant gets drinks\, and a hamburger & hot dog lunch on Saturday after the 12pm weigh-in. Trophies & prizes are given out on Sunday. \nAny fish species but carp\, catfish\, stripers and white drum can be weighed\, limit 5 fish per day. An awards party is held Sunday\, with both days’ catches combined to determine winners. Trophies are awarded in 3 divisions (5 yrs through 4th grade; 5th grade through 8th grade; and 9th-12th grades) for categories including biggest and smallest fish. All participating kids will receive something\, whether it is a trophy\, plaque or merchandise. \nRegistration (Friday 3-6pm)\, the pre-tournament boat captains meeting (Friday at 6) and Saturday’s cookout are held at the Elephant Butte Bass Clubhouse at the Elephant Butte Community Center. \nEveryone needs a boat. Families can share boats as long as boat capacity is not exceeded.
